Mind Mastery for the Coach

DEFINITION

Taking Care of Me – The Coach

When we think of caring for self we usually think of conventional things like food, exercise and rest. In today’s coaching world, taking care of self goes beyond the conventional three. We must pay attention to keeping our energy fields clean. Meditation is key to a Coach’s well-being. And keeping our thoughts positive at every single moment is paramount to our success.

When I was a child I marvelled at the sight of a rainbow in the sky.

Didn’t you? Weren’t you fascinated by them? I often wondered “Who painted it there?”

The rainbow today still speaks to me of Peace. Of Hope. And as Professional Coaches, Peace and Hope is what we bring to our Clients every single day. Agreed?

And to inspire our Clients with Peace and Hope, we must feel Peaceful and Hopeful inside of us first. The Law of Priority says so!

This May Newsletter is the first in a three part series designed to refresh your Mind, Body and Spirit. We provide you with dozens of tips meant to educate, illuminate and engage. We hope that you read every single one of the tips and then pass them along to others. The May Newsletter features Mind Mastery. June has some vital information for you on Body Mastery. July’s Newsletter is also a must read. Here, under the title of Spirit Mastery we step back to learn how to protect our energy fields from bad energies. Many Professionals get seriously ill because they take on the unhealthy energies of their Clients. I know because I was one of them.

Coaches are very valuable to this world. In my heart I believe that coaching came to this planet to bring enlightenment to every person we touch. And I know that you also believe this. There is no ego in it. It simply is the truth.

We help people set sail to their dreams.

We help them be more compassionate towards themselves and others. We help them find the rainbow inside themselves.

It’s quite amazing what we do, ya think?

Therefore, in order to keep ourselves healthy and to continue our mission, personal Mind, Body and Spirit Mastery is paramount.

As one of the International Directors of the ECI you may email me your comments at Betska@the-eci.org.

Deepest thanks goes to Anne-Marie McIntosh for her loving and enthusiastic partnership in creating this May newsletter.

Anne-Marie rocks!

Taking Care of Me – The Coach

“If you consciously and subconsciously believe in what you are doing, you will influence
others, otherwise they will influence you.”
~ Betska K-Burr

Mind Mastery

Being coaches we have knowledge of The Law of Belief:

“What we think we become.”

Mastering the mind means checking our thoughts and our current actions because they create our future.

  1. Lead a simple life. Successful people always want to do more! Therefore we often find ourselves involved in too many committees, too many activities and doing 300% more than our body’s health can handle. Ask yourself; ‘Is my schedule healthy?’. When we create a healthy schedule of activities our higher power then has a chance to work with us. A ‘busy as a bee’ schedule denies the higher power a chance to give us innovative ideas unless we devote a good chunk of time to meditation (see Spirit Mastery in our July newsletter for more details). A simple life is a precious gift to self.

  2. Coach self every day Monday through Friday. Devotion to self is easier than you think! Simply go to www.TheBrainWalk.com and do The Brain Walk® everyday to eliminate frustrations and develop innovative solutions to your own challenges and goals. This award-winning methodology has been given free to the world by Coaching and Leadership International Inc. The universal Law of Service kicks in here … “The more I love myself, the better I can serve others.” As we coach ourselves daily, we clear ourselves of the negative self-talk that lurks in the subconscious – we turn that negative self-talk into positive belief. Yeah! PS Send your clients to do The Brain Walk everyday – it will expedite the results they receive with your weekly coaching sessions. You’ll be amazed.

  3. Be Coachable. At the very least, once every three months, be coached by a senior Coach or mentor Coach. Their experience, knowledge of human behaviour and intuitive ability will be different from yours and will greatly assist you in moving forward in all areas of your life.

  4. Draw your dream. Keep it on the fridge! Put it under your pillow so that your subconscious can make it happen. (This really works.)

  5. Colours: wear cheerful colourful clothing even when you aren’t coaching. Avoid black unless with colourful accents such as colourful scarves or jewellery for women and ties for men. Paint your home and office colours that lift the spirit and positively affect your mind.

  6. Be careful who you listen to. Trust your own intuition. Do The Brain Walk® and meditate for your own clarity. Over the years I have repeatedly noticed how family and friends have tried to influence my choices – and I’m extremely happy that I didn’t listen to naysayers.

  7. Change your paradigms. Full moon? Mercury in retrograde? It is curious how many folks go into fear around Mercury in retrograde. They automatically believe that they will have relationship issues, their computer will break down, their business will stop flowing in and their cat will pee on the rug! Remember The Law of Belief. If we have fears, we will attract them. It’s better to close your eyes and see yourself in the centre of the Universe unaffected by its energies. This works because everything is energy.

  8. Hang out only with positive people.

  9. Set your boundaries. Tell people what you need from them and ask them what they need from you in order to not waste energy on unfulfilled needs.

  10. Celebrate your successes!

  11. Incorporate more laughter and joy into your life.

  12. Follow these suggestions for Coaching Family: From time to time your family members may be in need of coaching. When we get entangled with the emotions of our loved ones, we lose energy that could otherwise be used for more productive activities. To protect the spirit of your family members and yourself:

    • always ask if they would like you to coach them, mentor them or simply listen to their issues. My teenage daughter taught me this. Whenever something wasn’t right, I immediately wanted to coach her. One day she spun on her heels and said “But Mom, maybe I just want you to listen.” Well, that was indeed an eye opener for Mom!
    • do not coach if you have an agenda to fix. They will sense it and not trust you.
    • self-coach just before coaching them to ensure no judgments are lurking.
    • do a good grounding or say a prayer for calm during the session just in case the session is about you.
    • if you find yourself going into judgment, get rid of it ASAP.
    • at the end of the coaching session, refrain from mentoring. They will trust you more if you don’t. Let them find their own solutions.
    • after the session, refrain from discussing the session especially if you have gone into judgment of them. Self-Coach or ask your Buddy Coach to coach out your judgments.
    • refrain from speaking about the session for 7 days to provide a grace period for the real issue to be processed out. This is difficult to do but necessary. It will protect their spirit while processing.
  13. Daily gratitude. Thank each of your Clients for the opportunity to serve them. Silently thank them for helping you to also rise in consciousness. Have you noticed that clients often bring us the very issues that we too need to work on?
  14. Think abundance. Believe that you are as rich as royalty . . . in all ways! More good people need more money in order to do more good things for the planet.

Top Tip

Our Top Tip for this Month is to introduce you to

The Brain Walk® – The World’s #1 Positive Thinking Tool!

And it’s free! Be bold. Be courageous! Try it now. www.TheBrainWalk.com

WHAT IS THE BRAIN WALK®?

The Brain Walk® is a new innovative tool that allows men, women and children to:

  1. Liberate themselves of the issues that are frustrating them at any moment in time.

  2. Identify solutions to these issues.

  3. Achieve goals with greater ease.

  4. Learn how to better demonstrate the 75 main values of humanity such as self-love, honesty, respect, self-acceptance, faith, and discernment.

  5. Discover how to become a bilateral thinker … someone who can switch more easily between the left and right hemispheres of their brain. This switching then allows for an individual to live their life with greater peace and joy because solutions are within easier reach.

  6.  Celebrate the values that they already exhibit on a regular basis!

In the Spring of 2002, Betska K-Burr in a state of total sadness around the Iraqi War, invented, The Brain Walk® – A Journey for Peace of Mind. With this scientifically engineered methodology Betska had one great purpose: “If we end the war within ourselves and replace it with peace, we can prevent war between countries. Loving people don’t go to war.”

Indeed, all methodologies within The Brain Walk series allow us to shift our unconstructive thoughts, words and actions into positive ones. As we have already seen Candace Pert, PhD Neuroscientist and author of "Molecules of Emotion", has proven that when we are unclear about anything in life, there is a physiological reason for it.

In other words, when we have something that is stressing us or challenging us, this means that somewhere, somehow our receptors constricted and this has resulted in our thinking cells being underfed and undernourished. The Brain Walk has the ability to “pop receptors” or release the emotions causing the constriction. The end result is that because the cells immediately begin to receive nourishment we begin to have clarity on our issues.

Think of The Brain Walk as a tool to assist you in becoming more of a bilateral thinker ... someone who can switch easily between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. As you “image stream” solutions to a problem or a challenge with greater ease from the right hemisphere of the brain you will then use your logical left brain to decode the images into definitive solutions for your problem or challenge.

See this process as developing the muscle to maximize your IQ and your EQ (emotional quotient). After some time, you will notice that you don't need the actual map anymore … you will have trained your brain to automatically stream in solutions.

The Brain Walk® has been created to assist you in tapping into your highest creative centres in the same fashion as the geniuses of all time! It is an aerobic exercise for the brain!

Do The Brain Walk everyday!

Go to www.TheBrainWalk.com There you will see two of the methodologies:

  1. A Journey for Peace of Mind: this tool goes into the subconscious to determine what is stressing or challenging us at any given moment in time. The tool then guides us to discover innovative solutions to those challenges. Brilliant!

  2. Value Amplification: this tool helps us celebrate the wonderful values we already exhibit in life!

PS Send your family, friends and Clients to www.TheBrainWalk.com to help them heal their hearts and become wiser with instant solutions to challenges and goals.

Be well! Be happy!

May your Coaching business flourish and bring you

great love and abundance.

Your Questions Answered

Dear Editor: Sometimes I get very angry at myself because although I try very hard I am
still having trouble growing my coaching business. I see other Coaches making a very good
living at it. I have created a pretty solid marketing and business plan and I take action on
my goals but I am drowning. What is wrong here?
- Patricia B.

Dear Patricia:
Chances are your question is one that many coaches worldwide are asking. I was speaking with an affiliate just this week and she was telling us that her business was down almost 50%. Therefore, their motto was that “when the wind changes direction, we adjust our sails”. There is much truth to that. Here are some ideas for you to consider:

  • Check point #1: Is your target market still valid? Is your target market still valid in this economy? In other words, to what degree are they still hiring coaches?

  • Check point #2: What is the size of your geographic spread? In tricky economies, it is often necessary to spread our wings into a wider geographic area in order to increase our chances of acquiring new business.

  • Check point #3: Take a moment to call your previous customers and offer them something new like a lunch and learn speech.

  • Checkpoint #4: Coaches should all have multiple streams of income – at least 3 streams. For example, these streams could be one-on-one coaching, workshops and a bookstore. And at least one of the streams should be bringing you money while you sleep.

  • Checkpoint #5: (Most important checkpoint.) We only move forward in life when our conscious mind agrees with our subconscious mind. In other words our conscious and subconscious thoughts must be congruent. Most of us have no idea what is in the subconscious! This is where our positive thoughts patterns are stored. And, where our negative patterns thrive until we kick them out! These blind spots could very well be what is causing you to drown. Go to www.TheBrainWalk.com Do it every single day for 30 days and then write to me Betska@CoachingAndLeadership.com and tell me how it has changed your life and your business. You’ll be amazed.

You see, we all know that the Law of Belief is vitally important. Forget the Law of Attraction because if our belief systems are all messed up the Law of Attraction isn’t going to do a thing for us. What we think we become. Using The Brain Walk® every day you will be discovering and tossing out old thought and action patterns that don’t serve you anymore.

Brain Walkers are serious about their future and the future of the world. Brain Walkers are keen on becoming enlightened beings. Brain Walkers care about themselves.

The ICR

The International Coaching Register is for any individual who trades as a coach, who help individuals and/or organisations for example, establish a work life balance, manage stress levels and build communication skills amongst many other specialist areas.

Everyone who has qualified as a coach with a recognised coach training company should now take the opportunity to register. This will dramatically cut down on any misrepresentation that goes on within the industry. Many people have websites and call themselves a
coach but have no actual qualifications. The register will stop these people and raise the profile of genuine coaching and how it can transform people’s lives.

C.E.O. of the ECI Gerard O’Donovan said “the register has been administered by the ECI for the benefit of the world of coaching and coaching clients. It is also a great way for coaches to get business as members of the public can search for registered coaches in their area. It brings coaching transparency at last.”

Thought for the Month

Mind Mastery is about taking responsibility for yourself, having a positive mindset and engaging in activities which promote your needs and the needs of those around you. Mind mastery can be coined with the phrase ‘Attitude’. Attitude is all encompassing, it is everywhere, it accompanies us in every thought, word and deed. The quote below is profound in its simplicity.

"Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think, say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes."- Charles Swindoll
